And you thought YOUR mom sucked!!?

Directed by Peter Jackson, 1992

Braindead? Dead Alive? Who cares?!

I first saw this gorathon on one of the big movie channels, can't remember which one, though. Dead Alive changed my life forever. It's cheesy, romantic, vile, and vulgar all at the same time. I highly recommend this movie. Watch a love story unfold as young Lionel's rat-bitten-zombie- mother wreaks havoc on the whole village. You kinda feel bad for him because it's his mom, but then you realize what a bitch she was and it all seems so fitting of a demise. You will enjoy this one thoroughly.

Robert the Haunted Doll

Oh my God!!! I'm scared that if I say something bad about this doll, it's gonna hop on a plane from Key West through the luggage carrier, catch a cab here in Chicago, pay in monopoly money and then ring my doorbell to funk me up! I do not do da voodoo duuude!

Look this shizz up on your own.

Michael Montoure's Bloodletters is a decent list of horror films. However, I disagree with the vampire selections in 2 ways:

  1. Martin should be higher up on the list.
  2. Near Dark shouldn't be on the list at all.

Check it out though, it might tickle your fancy.

"Give me back my hand!!!"

Directed by Sam Raimi/ Written by Sam Raimi and Scott Spiegal, 1987

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Once again Bruce Campbell plays our cartoony cult hero, Ash. Aside from the gorific thrills, also watch this movie for tips on how to get rid of an annoying zombie girlfriend, very helpful.

BTW- Yesterday, I was bored enough to play the daily Yahoo crossword puzzle and number something down was "Evil Dead Protagonist", answer: ASH.

Weird.

The Evil Dead

Directed/ Written by Sam Raimi, 1981

Anybody that knows anything about horror knows that this movie has it all. Maybe it doesn't have as much oomph as Dead by Dawn, but then again the budget was the issue. This cult classic starts with five college kids headed to a cabin for some chill time in the Tennessee middle of nowhere. After finding a voice recording of passages read from the Book of the Dead (Necronomicon), strange things start happenning. One-by-one they all start turning into demonically possessed zombie things, until only one person is left. Bruce Campbell plays Ash, the last man standing. Watch Ash fight for his life by dismembering all his friends in a blood bath bonanza. One of my faves.

Everytime I go onto Google and type in "Best horror movies of all time", I get some really lame results. However, if you dig deep enough you'll find one of the hippest sites I've seen in a long time. It's called http://www.1000misspenthours.com/. Run by a superintelligent, and semi-comical guy named El Santo. This dude will give you a great opinion, and overly detailed synopses of damn near every horror flick from 1902- present. El Santo rocks my Socks....

I'd hate to live wherever he lives...

Directed by David Lynch, 1977

Okay, based on the plot this movie should be pretty easy to follow, right? Guy meets girl, girl gets knocked up, baby is a strange deformed creature, lives torn apart.

Said to be set in a post-apocalyptic world, poor Henry Spencer is on "vacation" from his job at the printing factory when he learns that his girlfriend, Mary, had his child who was being kept at the hospital. Not even the doctors know what this child is. Henry, being a stand-up guy agrees to marry her and take care of this little bundle of...uuum yeah. Mary moves in with him in this funked up apartment. Dirty, dirty, gross. Unfortunately, the child's disfigurement and constant cries take their toll on mother Mary's patience and maternal drive, ultimately leaving the child in Henry's care. With all this baby mama and baby monster drama, what's a "vacationing" factory worker to do but bang the freak nasty neighbor across the hall? Keep in mind, that through all this, nightmarish images and situations arise giving you this feeling of "This is almost too creepy to watch" For the sake of surprises, I'll exclude the ending.

Eraserhead is a must-see.
